ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties may be assigned.

  1. Oversee the entire volleyball program, which includes Varsity, JV, and Freshman teams (approx 12-14 players on each time.
  2. Knowledge base of rules and skills involved in sport.
  3. Practice daily (M-F) during season for 2 ½ hours occasionally we will have a practice on a Saturday or Sunday.
  4. Make sure coaches have all equipment that they need to run a practice and play games.
  5. Set up for home matches.
  6. Maintain equipment and facilities.
  7. We play a full schedule: Girls – 16 matches plus 3 tournaments (which includes district).
  8. Attend yearly mandatory rules meeting to keep abreast of rule changes.
  9. Attend coaching clinics.
  10. Attend all seed meetings for tournaments.
  11. Attend suburban South/West coaches meetings for fall and spring sports at Ladue High School.
  12. Attend all-conference selection meetings (usually held on a Saturday or Sunday).
  13. Take yearly inventory of equipment and uniforms.
  14. Submit recommendations for equipment needed for the following year to Activities Director.
  15. Rate officials and fill out form to send to state association.
  16. Evaluate lower level coaches (varsity assistant, junior varsity and freshman).
  17. Conduct a volleyball camp for a week during the summer for boys and girls, grades 9 – 12.
  18. Varsity girls participate in Jeffco summer league, which runs for six (6) weeks during the summer, one night a week for an hour.
  19. Involved in little league volleyball program for grades 5-8.
  20. Call in scores to paper for publication, fax stats to sport stats.
  21. Conduct interviews with reporters for local paper.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  1. Must hold a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  1. Must have the ability to communicate and interact effectively.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS:

  1. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY:

  1. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule form.
  2. Ability to concentrate, think, read and learn is necessary to perform the essential job duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, talk, listen, and respond.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.  Occasionally, the employee may lift up to 50 pounds, such as, to lift files, papers, and equipment.  The foregoing is not an exclusive list and the employee may be required to exceed the minimum physical demand specifications should the safety and security of students and staff be compromised.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties of this job.  The noise level in the work environment is usually at a moderate level with frequent interruptions.  The employee continuously interacts with staff and the public.  Travel may be necessary to various District buildings and/or sites.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job duties.
