Job Summary:
To assist in providing an appropriate well organized program for students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties may be assigned.
- Assists teacher in:
- Working directly with students assigned as per teacher’s schedule
- Recording accurate data on skills and/or behaviors as directed based on goals from IEP and/or BIP
- Supporting modifications listed on IEP/504
- Provideing 1:1 or small group instruction on skills as pre-teching, reinforcement of previously taught skills, or enrichment
- Assisting with student basic care needs (toileting, feeding, general health)
- Maintaining classroom organization
- Supervising students inside and outside of the classroom
- Providing supervision for “other duties” (i.e. bus or van, lunch, recess, private transportation, before care for late start, etc)
- Implementing IEPs of assigned students
- Performing other appropriate duties as assigned by the teacher
- Adheres to district policies and departmental, building and classroom procedures
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students
- Follow district policy on student confidentiality, health and safety
- Respect the legal and human rights of students and their families
- Paraprofessionals assigned to individual students will meet the needs of the student as outlined in the IEP
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- 60 hours of college credit and/or have passed the Paraprofessional Praxis (ParaPro Assessment)
- Experience with young people.
- Prior experience in a school setting is desired.
- Experience with educational applications (i.e., copying machine and computer skills) is desired.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrate organizational ability and attention to detail.
- Ability to provide assistance to the school community as necessary.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Excellent human relation skills.
- Knowledge of office equipment (computers, copiers, fax machine, and related items).
