JOB SUMMARY:
Ensure that all school-aged child care regulations and requirements at the site level are implemented. This is a part time, split shift position. Hours are approximately 2.5 hours in the morning prior to the start of school, and approximately 3 hours after the end of the school day.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must work am and pm shifts.
- Plan developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for children.
- Supervise and support children at site.
- Ensure that children’s needs are met with dignity and respect.
- Assist Program Manager with supervision of site staff.
- Complete all site-specific administrative duties.
- Communicate with and provide support to parents and school staff at site.
- Positively implement behavior expectations and set limits for children.
- Use positive verbal and non-verbal communication with children to build trusting and positive relationships.
- Develop lesson plans, newsletter, calendar, and other written materials for site, and distribute to parents and school principal.
- Maintain documentation and other records of site activities.
- Plan and implement at least one school/community event each year.
- Interact with children individually and in small groups.
- Encourage appropriate learning, social interaction, and participation among children.
- Follow all District policies, regulations and procedures.
- Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
- Assist program manager in meeting licensure requirements.
- Collect fees and turn into Program Manager weekly.
- Other duties as assigned by Administration, including working at other sites as necessary.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Successful completion of (12) college semester hours, with at least six (6) of the hours in child-related courses and passing score on the Para Pro Exam (unless 60 college hours have been earned).
- Experience with school aged children.
- Prior experience in a school setting is preferred.
- Experience with educational applications (i.e., copying machine and computer skills) is desired.
- CPR/First Aid certificate.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrate organizational ability and attention to detail.
- Ability to provide assistance to the school community as necessary.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent human relation skills.
- Knowledge of office equipment (computers, copiers, fax machine, and related items).
- Willing to successfully complete required ongoing training.
- Knowledge of requirements of child abuse/neglect laws.
