JOB SUMMARY:

Assist in the efficient operation of the custodial department to project a positive image of the Northwest R-I School District.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties may be assigned.

Daily

  1. Police grounds
  2. Vacuum carpet areas
  3. Dust mop tile areas
  4. Empty pencil sharpeners
  5. Clean chalk boards
  6. Spot clean desk tops
  7. Spot mop tile areas as required
  8. Clean bathrooms
    1. Clean sinks
    2. Johnny mop
    3. Sanitize all fixtures
    4. Check paper products
    5. Remove graffiti
    6. Empty trash
    7. Wet mop floor, fixtures
  9. Clean and prepare areas before and after any functions as required
  10. Perform duties as required by principals or supervisors.

 

One Time Weekly

(Tuesday)            Dust high (shades, blinds, corners, pictures, etc.)

(Tuesday)            Clean erasers

(Tuesday)            Wash chalkboards

(Thursday)          Scrub bathroom floors (alternating bathrooms)

Three times weekly

(Monday, Wednesday, and Friday)

Dust low (furniture, windowsills, shelves, etc.)

High speed buff hallways

One time monthly

1st Week               Clean classroom windows

2nd Week              Wash student chairs

3rd Week              Wash trash cans and desks

 

        

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, talk, listen, and respond. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Occasionally, the employee may lift up to 50 pounds, such as, to lift files, papers, and equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually at a moderate level with frequent interruptions. The employee continuously interacts with staff and the public.
