JOB SUMMARY: (Part Time)

Follow all school-aged child care regulations and requirements to ensure that children receive appropriate child care in a safe and secure manner.  This is a part time, split shift position. Hours are approximately 2.5 hours in the morning prior to the start of school, and approximately 3 hours after the end of the school day. If unable to work both shifts, options to work one shift only may be available.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist in carrying out appropriate activities and experiences for children.
  2. Supervise and interact with all children at site individually and in small groups.
  3. Ensure children’s needs are met with respect and dignity.
  4. Ensure children receive required snack.
  5. Assist team leader in school/community activities.
  6. Establish ongoing and appropriate communication with school personnel, children, and parents.
  7. Interact with all children, parents and staff in an appropriate manner.
  8. Establish supportive relationships with parents, children, and school staff.
  9. Implement developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques and communicate limits in a positive manner.
  10. Communicate with program manager and team leader as necessary.
  11. Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
  12. Assist team leader in meeting and implementing District policies/procedures.
  13. Other duties as assigned by team leader, program manager and/or Administration, including working at other sites as necessary.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school diploma and passing score on the Para Pro exam (unless 60 college hours have been earned).
  2. Experience with school aged children.
  3. Prior experience in a school setting is preferred.
  4. Experience with educational applications (i.e., copying machine and computer skills) is desired.
  5. CPR/First Aid certificate.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Demonstrate organizational ability and attention to detail.
  2. Ability to provide assistance to the school community as necessary.
  3. Ability to work independently.
  4. Excellent human relation skills.
  5. Knowledge of office equipment (computers, copiers, fax machine, and related items).
