JOB SUMMARY:

To assist in the maintenance of the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of all facilities may be made at all times.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties may be assigned.

  1. Assumes primary responsibility for the safe conditions of all areas or equipment repaired.
  2. Assumes responsibility of all assigned work orders.
  3. Consults with the Director of Facilities regarding any observed safety or problem areas.
  4. Works cooperatively with fellow workers.
  5. Properly operates and cares for all security after leaving any facility or work area.
  6. Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  7. Assumes primary responsibility for security after leaving any facility or work area.
  8. Reports any accidents or unsafe incidents to the Director of Facilities.
  9. Makes final inspections of repair work to insure accuracy and quality.
  10. Provides accurate reports related to materials used and/or labor time expended.
  11. Makes recommendations as needed regarding the need for supplies and materials.
  12. Provides for the proper use and care of hand tools (i.e., hammers, saws, chisels, planes), equipment (such as all power tools), hardware (nails, screws, glue), and other materials.
  13. Warns students, parents and staff near repair job areas.
  14. Assists in maintaining a safe and orderly warehouse work environment.
  15. Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Five years related experience necessary.
  3. Certified Applicator with Missouri Department of Agriculture preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  1. Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, and interact effectively with all aspects of the school community is required.
  2. Ability to solve conflicts, maintain confidentiality and remain open to various ideas and viewpoints.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS:

  1. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  2. Ability to perform mathematical calculations to balance assigned budget items, invoices, bills, purchase orders and other related items.

REASONING ABILITY:

  1. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while complying with established policies and procedures of the building and district.
  2. Identifies and resolve problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
  3. Ability to concentrate, think, read and learn is necessary to perform the essential job duties.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned duties.
  2. Training specific to maintenance responsibilities and duties.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, talk, listen, and respond.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.  Occasionally, the employee may lift up to 50 pounds, such as, to lift files, papers, and equipment.  The foregoing is not an exclusive list and the employee may be required to exceed the minimum physical demand specifications should the safety and security of students and staff be compromised.
